Nicholas Garaty is a Trainee Solicitor (SQE) at Thomas Mansfield Solicitors, supporting both the dispute resolution and employment law teams on contentious matters.
Nick works on a wide range of civil disputes, including discrimination in the provision of goods and services, contract breaches, negligence, landlord and tenant matters, money claims and interim applications. He also regularly handles contentious probate cases involving testamentary capacity, undue influence and fraudulent Wills.
In employment law, Nick works on cases involving unfair dismissal, whistleblowing, and workplace discrimination, acting for both employers and individuals.
Nick is experienced in all aspects of dispute resolution, from managing casework and initiating proceedings to representing clients in court. His responsibilities include drafting pleadings and witness statements, conducting legal research, preparing for and attending hearings, and liaising with clients to ensure matters progress smoothly and efficiently. His calm approach and attention to detail make him a trusted point of contact for both clients and colleagues.
Before joining Thomas Mansfield, Nick worked as a County Court Advocate, appearing in over two hundred hearings across a broad spectrum of civil claims. He also conducted worker compliance assessments for a national accountancy firm, developing further insight into regulatory frameworks.
Nick holds a degree in Law and Forensic Investigation from Canterbury Christ Church University and completed the Bar Practice Course with a Master of Laws (LLM) at the University of Law. He was called to the Bar in 2021 and is currently completing his solicitor qualification via the SQE route.

In 2024, he was named ‘Trainee Solicitor of the Year’ by the Junior Lawyer Division of the Kent Law Society - a reflection of his talent, dedication and growing reputation.
Nick has a keen interest in international law and defence, having written on patent law, wartime technology and the regulation of novel weaponry - insight that strengthens his ability to navigate complex legal issues with precision and depth.
