Neill Thomas is the founder and managing director of Thomas Mansfield Solicitors and a highly regarded employment lawyer known for his strategic insight, commercial awareness and measured, practical advice.

He has acted for a broad range of clients, including employers and senior executives and professionals, on complex employment law issues and highly sensitive litigation cases. Neill established a strong reputation early in his legal career, advising on board-level disputes, senior exits, whistleblowing and discrimination claims, as well as guiding businesses through restructuring, team moves, transferring employees and contractual changes.

As managing director, Neill leads the strategic direction of Thomas Mansfield Solicitors, overseeing its continued growth, operational delivery and reputation for excellence.

He is instrumental in shaping the firm’s core practice areas – employment law, family law, wills and probate and dispute resolution – ensuring each area is built around technical expertise, practical support and delivering exceptional client service.

Neill works closely with the senior management team to maintain consistently high standards and a collaborative culture. Under Neill’s guidance, the firm has grown steadily while retaining its specialist focus and client-centred approach.

Key experience and achievements

Strategic legal advice and litigation

  • Acted as a trusted adviser to large organisations on complex workplace issues and sensitive litigation strategy.
  • Advised senior executives, directors and shareholders on high-value exits, including equity, bonus arrangements and post-termination protections.
  • Successfully appealed a High Court confidentiality super-injunction, enabling a client to proceed with Employment Tribunal claims – one of the first successful challenges of its kind.
  • Acted in the landmark Supreme Court case Royal Mencap Society v Tomlinson-Blake and Shannon v Rampersad, concerning National Minimum Wage and sleep-in shifts in the care sector - – a case with significant implications for the care sector.

Leadership and external appointments

  • Founded Thomas Mansfield Solicitors in 2004, growing it into a respected multi-office specialist firm across London and the South East.
  • Led the expansion of the firm’s services beyond employment law to include family law, private client and dispute resolution.
  • Developed award winning multimedia employment law training programmes used by national organisations including ACAS, the Department for International Development and the Police Service of Northern Ireland.
  • Serves as a Board Director of the Sevenoaks Chamber of Commerce, supporting regional business growth and contributing legal insight at board level.
