Thomas Corcoran is an experienced employment solicitor, advising both employees and employers on a full range of workplace matters, from day-to-day advice to complex disputes.

He acts for employees at all levels, including those facing dismissal, redundancy, discrimination or disciplinary action. He provides clear advice on contract terms, negotiated exits and settlement agreements, and regularly represents individuals in Employment Tribunal proceedings. He has significant experience advising employees in the context of discrimination.

For employers, Tom provides ongoing legal support on issues such as grievance and disciplinary procedures, restructuring, redundancy and TUPE transfers, and he helps businesses manage legal obligations, reduce risk and protect business continuity. He advises on the preparation and implementation of employment contracts, service agreements and post-termination restrictions, offering clear, practical guidance aligned with organisational objectives. He also has significant experience advising employers in Employment Tribunal litigation, including advising employers on the settlement of such claims.

Tom has particular experience acting for clients in the financial services sector, including through a secondment with one of the UK’s largest challenger banks. This insight informs his approach when advising in regulated environments, especially on matters where employment law intersects with compliance (including with regulatory requirements, such as of the FCA and PRA), confidentiality and reputational risk.

Tom is known for his measured, practical advice and ability to support clients through both day-to-day issues and more complex disputes. He works collaboratively to understand his clients’ goals and provides solutions that are legally sound and commercially proportionate.

He is always committed to building a strong relationship with his clients and makes sure to boil complex legal matters down into client-focused, strategic advice that meets client’s personal and business needs.

Tom joined Thomas Mansfield Solicitors after completing his training contract and two years as an Associate in the London office of Eversheds Sutherland, a global City law firm, where he advised on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious matters for employer clients.

He holds a BA in Classics from the University of Oxford, an MA in Education from King's College London and completed the Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course at BPP University. Tom is also a fluent Italian speaker.

  • Acted for an employee with potential sex discrimination and sexual harassment claims against a senior individual in one of UK’s largest privately-owned leisure companies, obtaining a six figure settlement.
  • Advised one of UK’s leading companies in gambling sector on tribunal claims involving multiple forms of alleged discrimination.
  • Advised employee with less than two years’ service facing disciplinary action in context of alcohol dependence syndrome, obtaining six figure settlement.
  • Advised senior individual at one of UK’s leading portfolio management companies facing performance management processes, obtaining settlement.
  • Advised a leading UK television sound operator on redundancy for employees, advising on all aspects of redundancy including consultation process.
  • Advised start-up company on requiring employees to return to office in context of childcare arrangements and potential indirect discrimination risks.
  • Advised on successful implementation of return to office, avoiding any grievances/claims being brought about process.
